My Little Pony Hidden Dissectibles Series 2 REVIEW
Ever since the reveal and review of the first series of Freeny's Hidden Dissectibles by Mighty Jaxx, we've been waiting for more! In the mean time they release a larger Princess Celestia figure for a limited time, but we were overjoyed when we heard about the second series! Thanks to the wonderful people at Mighty Jaxx, we're able to review the new series of blind bag Hidden Dissectibles today, and are happy to share all the details on these new figures with you.

Aside from the review we're still able to offer you $10 off $100 in the Mighty Jaxx store with this referral link (we'll also receive a small kickback).

Packaging

In regards to packaging we see the same as style as with the first series, but we want to point this out as in our experience this is done better than with the Natural Series which we ordered earlier this year. In contrast, Mighty Jaxx ships this full box in a sturdy cardboard outer box, with styrofoam on the corners. If, for some reason, the box takes a hit during shipping (which ours did, as can be seen on the photos), it will not directly damage the inner box.

The Figures

In regards to the individual packaging of the figures, it's basically the same as with the first series. There's one difference though, and that's the boxes with two figures in one case! The combination of Spike + Applebloom and Sweetie Belle + Scootaloo come packed in a single box, but also a shared based. When opening these boxes you'll see the base first, and already know you've got a chase! Another difference is that the two figures are wrapped in an additional bag, instead of a plastic mold. While that protects them less than the others, we didn't have any issues with them.

Aside from the figure and base we also find foil-wrapped character card and a card with FR Verified instructions (more on that later).

We received a special (p)review box, and got all regular and chase figures. This way we were able to open, check and photograph all available figures in the series. But do know what a full box is not a guarantee to include all chase figures.

Aside from the combined figures, it's a guess until the last moment on which figure you'll get. Because of the protective plastic mold and similar weight, it's even difficult to feel which bag contain which pony. Fun fact: we even failed to guess which bag contained Big McIntosh!

We're still very happy with the quality and level of detail of these figures. Every figure has their own color palette, mold and expression. Placing the figure on their face required a bit of force and wiggling, so be careful to not damage the figure. While placing, we noted that the wing of our Derpy/Muffins figure came loose from the body. It seems that no (or not enough) glue was used, and wiggling caused it to fall off. We assume that this was an incident with this one figure, as all others were solid.

This series feature favorite characters from the second season of Friendship is Magic. Introducing all notable characters would have been too much for a 9-figure set, so Flim & Flam and Daring Do are left out, for example. Another Twilight Sparkle figure was a little surprising for this season 2 set, but note that this time, she's included as a unicorn. Overall we think that the included characters are a nice selection, and are happy to see that there is a focus on new characters, rather than just more mane 6 figures.

The only other exception to that is the Sonic Rainboom Rainbow Dash figure, and wow, does it look good! The color-fade is really smooth, and the amount of glitter is just right. That glitter was a bit of an issue with the first series, as it distracted from the dissected-design, so we're happy to see that this has been improved.

As said earlier, the other chase characters come as two sets of two figures. They're a bit smaller, but that fits the scale of the regular ponies. The duos are placed together on a shared base, and when bundle with the other chase figures, a heart-shaped base is formed. While this looks cute, it becomes hard to see all details of the 4 figures, so for display purposes you'll probably separate them.

Just like with series 1, we've made photos of all sides from the figures, so you check out all details of them. Enjoy!

Forreal Verified

Those who have not seen our previous review might wonder what these "FR. Verified" stickers mean. Well, these are a clever method from Mighty Jaxx to authenticate and register your figures. The bases contain an NFC chip (much like Amiibo figures) on which a unique code is stored to identify your figure. With the Mighty Jaxx app you can scan the base (after removing the protective sticker) to confirm it's an authentic one, and register it to your account.

Once registered you get a certificate of authenticity, and the figure is directly shown in your digital collection. Want to sell or trade your figures? From the app you can scan the figure again and transfer ownership to someone else.
