She comes in a monochrome box and is always packed wrong side up. On the back we see the usual style of the 35th Anniversary ponies, though it only showing Applejack. Within the box you not only get the pony, but a bow and hairbrush are included too. Everything in matching blue.
This special Applejack is currently only available in-store at Target, where you can pick her up for $9.99. Note that a handful of ponies are also available from 3rd part sellers on Amazon, though with a higher price tag.
On the side of the packaging we also find a quote from the 3rd season of Stranger Things, which explains the collaboration:
"All the pink in the world can't disguise the irrefutable fact that CASTLES and CENTAURS and DRAGONS and MAGIC are all standard NERD TROPES - ergo, My Little Pony is NERDY - ergo, YOU, ERICA, are a NERD."(If anyone knows whether this Applejack is also featured on-screen in the new season, please do let us know!)
- Dustin Henderson
The release of this figure was plagued by early shelf releases, resulting in this figure already circulating online since a month ago. We've also had reports on Target stores that only have a very limited stock available, so be prepared that you might not find any figures in some Target stores. And if you see multiple, please leave some behind for fellow collectors :)
Thanks to kar-lindafor the photo of the side and bottom of the packaging!
And the collaboration doesn't end there! Aside from the Applejack figure there's also an official Stranger Things x My Little Pony backpack in G1 style with a blueprint inside. On the cover of the brightly-colored backpack are G1 Princess Royal Pink and Princess Royal Purple.
This backpack is, in contract to Applejack, already listed on the Target website for $17.99, though it is out of stock. But, store finds have already been reported!
The back pack is in stock at Wichita NW apparently, according to the website
ReplyDeleteThe backpack is shown this season but upside down applejack is not.
ReplyDeleteBoth are available NOW @Target! My local had 5 ponies in stock, on the shelf, in very good to perfect condition. (Central Fl, Flagler county). She's gorgeous,a definite "dark horse!" lol
ReplyDeleteShe is a very pretty shade of blue.
ReplyDeleteI found mine at the end of June, but since there were none on the floor when I visited a local Target, the clerk had to retrieve mine from the stockroom. Local stores seem to have restocked this past weekend after the first wave at the end of June sold out quickly. The odd thing about my Applejack is that the factory tape/seal is intact--but Applejack is right side up. I've not seen any like this in-store or on e-Bay; since the tape is intact, it's STRANGE. o.O'
ReplyDeleteApplejack is available on the Target website right now as well, and because Target is doing their version of Prime Day, she's 30% off.
ReplyDeleteShe's a beautiful pony but her normal eyes would have worked well.
