According to Romper, the set will contain the following:
In celebration of the brand's 35th anniversary, the My Little Pony Established 1983 Greatest Hits Set is being released exclusively at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). It features three of the mane six characters reimagined with 80s-inspired fashions, as well as funky mane styles. Twilight Sparkle is dressed as an '80s pop princess, Pinkie Pie is jamming out in some old-school aerobic gear, and of course Rainbow Dash is rocking a fierce mohawk and punky leather jacket. In addition to these totally awesome figures, the set also includes three cassette tape-inspired collector cards describing the pony friends. To round out the theme, the entire set is housed in packaging designed like a boombox. Retailing for $20, the set is exclusive to SDCC, so book your trip to San Diego right away. These newer ponies look a little different from their 1980s predecessors, but they are definitely on the scene and ready to party in some of the best getups imaginable.
For those who aren't able to make it to the SDCC. Fear not! After the convention it will also be available on the HasbroToyShop.
nothing special
ReplyDeleteTwilight very cute, wow
ReplyDeleteOh wow!!!, Twilight is super cute!!!, I love her!!!; Rainbow Dash looks super cool (as ever), similar to her human counterpart in the music video "Friendship through the ages"; and Pinkie Pie, well, she is always cute, but here,as Pony, her sports fashion not fit very well, but her hairstyle is super cute.
ReplyDeleteTotally Tubular!
ReplyDeletevery average.
ReplyDeleteoh wow, looks like the same crap on the shelves now. and because the give it 80s fashion does not make it a tribute to the 80s mlp.
ReplyDeleteI was expecting more like fashion style tempest shadow or someone else new.
ReplyDeleteThese are very uninspired. I was hoping for Tempest Shadow; or Sunset Shimmer, Trixie and Starlight Glimmer, and/or the other Princesses as seaponies.
ReplyDeleteConsidering that G4 is running out next year, Hasbro probably doesn't want to invest any more money into new brushable molds.
DeleteBut this is San Diego Comic con we are talking about here...not some toy fair.
DeleteThen all I can say is that this was a **very** lazy release on Hasbro's part.
DeleteIn the past they have released ponies that people clamored for. They put out Derpy, and she was the general pegasi 6in style. Same with other SDCC ponies which use the G3 "Art Pose". The princesses and the outsider 3 do not have official seapony art/character models so anything could have gone, unlike the mane 6, which they excluded AJ from the style-size.
Speaking of which, I am disappointed as all get-out that they didn't go that route with AJ. Applejack as a seapony would have been a much better release for SDCC, hat and all.
That's aside from the fact that the 4.5 redesigns for "The Movie" are appear dumbly doofy and noodle-y even compared to the movie characters that had to have a redesign compared to the TV show. I don't know very many people (including kids) that prefer the new ones over the older releases. Even my niece said that Princess Celestia needs to "stop dieting". Coming from a 6-year-old, that says a lot.
I'm surprised to see they gave Twilight show accurate eyes
ReplyDeleteThis year 35th G1 anniversary ponies are released. Two sets. Hasbro, you missed an opportunity to slap a few of the popular G4 characters onto G1 molds for the celebration and a neat release for SDCC. This set looks like something I could grab at Target for $20. Sorry Hasbro but you missed your mark this year.
