Last week we visited a Toys XL Store here in the Netherlands. Toys XL is a bit like the Dutch Toys"R"Us, but they aren't as awesome sadly and don't have any exclusives. Anyway, to our surprise we noticed that they had the Equestria Girls Collection in stock, and they had all of them. As a Rarity fan, I decided to pick up Rarity. The price label said they were €10 each, but this was only for the first Rainbow Rocks Singles and they didn't add these to the database yet so the right price was €17, but I still decided to pick her up.
The packaging is different than the first release featuring the heart-shaped symbol that all the Rainbow Rocks dolls have right now on their packaging. The pony vector is also removed from the front and on the side there is an advertisement for the Rainbow Rocks Movie. From the back it turns out the vectors of the mane-six as humans has changed as well. I liked the first one more because I think it captures Rarity's personality way more. But this doll isn't about the packaging only. Its about the doll itself as well!
The goal of the Equestria Girls collection is to feature the dolls in the same looks as they did in the Equestria Girls Movie like the first release, each single doll comes with an accessory as well. This Rarity has got a nice handbag. The doll itself is also different from the first release. The lips are thinner and the Cutie Mark is smaller. The glittery eye-shadow is also gone and the face itself looks way sweeter and more lively then the first one. The hair quality looks good and seems different than the bad hair we had in the first release. The shirt is now made from some plastic instead of being painted on the torso. This is very nice because you can swap the clothing right now. The shirt is also very nicely molded. I know some people prefer textile ones instead of plastic, but I don't mind. The skirt is also different, it features her Cutie Mark and it's covered in some nice large glitter. I think it looks really nice. And now comes the best thing... they have feet! Unlike the first dolls, who have peg feet, these ones have real feet which are so much better since it's easier to swap them shoes with other dolls even from other series like Monster High or Ever After High.
Overall the Equestria Girls Collection is much better then the first released ones. It seems like Hasbro has listened and learned well from their mistakes. But every project has to start somewhere, even when it isn't perfect.

Pro's
+ Show Accurate
+ Nicer Hair
+ Removable Clothes
+ Sweetier Face
+ Peg Feet

Con's
- Clothing could be made of textile as well
- Better articulation would be nice

Conclusion
After all I'm really happy with this new addition to my Rarity collection. If you like Rarity as well I really recommend to pick her up as well. If you don't like the first release I think this one would be still worth to pick up because of the improvements. However, if you're more into Monster High etc. these dolls might not be your thing because of the low articulation points. I say, take a look and see her in person and then make your deccision. :)

  1. As a Finn, 17 euros for one doll seems so little! Those single EG dolls are here about 23-30 euros, depending on the store. I guess I would faint if I see any EG dolls for 10 euros here :D

I don't think Hasbro has had many doll brands, but at least they used to make Trollz dolls about... 8-9 years ago? I don't remember well, I was quite young then. But they had similiar feet like old EG dolls (so no feet at all, actually) and they didn't quite look like their show counterparts. Any EG doll is a huge improvement comparing to them.
