Fake Chinese Spike Plush
Fake Chinese Spike Plush

And here's yet another plush that has been found on Taobao. And this time it's Spike! By the looks of it his looks really good. I'm almost beginning to wonder if these plushies aren't fake at all. But for know he is added to our Chinese Fake Plushy database.

Thanks to Niksilp from the MLP Arena for finding him!

  1. They aren't fakes, not even chinese (besides being made there like most MLP goods) but it is hard to know without the paper tag.

The most important thing on the tag is the quality seal, it is by http://www.toys.or.jp/ and only japanese companies can get that, it also includes an ID that the company is registered under at the Japan Toy Assosiation and it is a company that mainly produces toys for those claw machines.

    1. Hello, thank you for your reply! That's some interresting information, do you happen to have any images of the plushies with the tags attached, or pictures of the claw machines? The japanese toy company doesn't list any MLP related info on their site, so it's hard to confirm it through the company.
The big problem we have with these listings is that they are being sold on Taobao without any company information or tags for a very low price. Even though there could be an actual spike plush like this in Japan, we don't have any confirmation yet that the once sold on Taobao are genuine.

    2. The photos on Taobao and Ebay (with the green size circle) are actually the ones directly taken from the company's PDF catalog, they actually do include a paper tag attached to the ears besides a fabric tag that is near the butt. I don't have pictures with the paper tag attached right now but a friend made a video with the Big Mac of the company.

The company itself is mainly known for making anime plushies and is actually quite old already but I don't know if they have an own website.

    3. All I seem to find on the internet is more plushies with the green 12 inch logo on them. No company information anywhere. Do you happen to have a company name or catalog PDF? :)

    4. I think I tossed the tag from my Big Mac, but I've got another plush on the way, so I'll snap some photos of its tag when I get it.

    5. That tag is NOT the Japanese logo for MLP.

You can note it says My Little Pony in katakana is small type above the pink bubble, then friendship is magic in the pink bubble.

These plushes are simply Chinese bootlegs. Lots of bootlegs have tags on them.

:( Hopefully you can spread this news... I'm tired of people assuming this is for the Japanese market. It's not. It would have the correct logo if it was. It's a bootleg.
